Bamukunde Foundation is in the process of entering into a partnership with a major optical retail chain in UK to help recycle their unwanted, used spectacles. The aim is to establish a recycle scheme to enable participating optical practices around the UK send used spectacles and old frames to Bamukunde Foundation. This service will be offered at no cost to the retail chain or to their customers.
The main beneficiaries are specialists in Africa who will be able to upcycle, restore and resale glasses at a lower price in order to provide affordable spectacles and eye care in Africa. This recycle scheme will enable the Foundation to raise money for its education projects in refugee camps.
